An Exhibition for all the senses reframing the Viking Age. A new permanent exhibition produced by Gotlands Museum.
Midgård is a spatial exhibition in which the design emphasises materiality, variation, and physical environments. Most of it is analogue and tactile, supported by digital elements for deeper exploration. The exhibition is organised into several themes featuring images, objects, sound, and interactive components, where materials and aesthetics play a crucial role.
A key aim of the exhibition is to shed light on how people during the Viking era lived and understood their world. It explores how the culture of the period emerged and spread, as well as the natural environments people encountered and interacted with.
Concept, exhibition design, textile installations developed together with co-architect Jenny Söderström and Knak. Photography: Anna Sundström and Gotlands Museum.
